WEEKLY MARKET REPORT.
Messrs Mobitzson and Hoekin, Dunedin, report (wholesale) as follows for week ending August 3. All quotations subject to market fluctuations : — We would ask farmers when sending samples always to put a price on them, as buyers do not seemed inclined to make offers. Wheat : The demand is almost nil, millers being content to reduce their present stock. We quote : Best velvet, 4s 6d to 4s 8d ; best Tuscan, 4s 3d to 4s 6d ; red chaff, 4s 6d ; fowls' wheat, 3s to 3s 6d. Oats : The market remains quiet. We have sold Sutherlands at 2s €d and bright short feed at 2s 2d to 9s 3d. Barley : Feed sorts are quoted at 2s 2d to 2s 6d ; milling, 3s 3d to 4s ; malting, in strong demand, from 4s 6d to 5s 2d. We have orders for all grades, and can place a large quantity. Byecorn : 3s 6d. Flour : We quote £12. Oatmeal in 25's, £13 10s. Pearl barley, £21. Bran, £3. Pollard, £4. Nelson hops are quoted at Is 3d. Linseed wanted, £13, with good enquiry. Chaff : Prime quality, well-cut, oaten sheaf is worth £3 12s 6d to £3 15s ; medium, £3 to £3 7s 6d. Byegrass : The demand is brisk, and prices are firmer. We quote : For farmers' dressed, 2s 3d to 3s ; machined, 3s 3d to 4s, a good inquiry for small seed. Cocksfoot, 3d to 3|d for farmers' lots, and 4d te 5Jd for machined. Pressed straw, 25s to 27s 6d. Clover hay, £4 Nitrate of soda, £15. Basic slag, £5. Potatoes : Derwents, £7 10s. Sheepskins : We quote : Crossbreds, 2s fid to 3s 9d ; extra to 5s 6d ; merinos, 2s to 3s ; medium do, Is 6d to 2s ; pelts, 6d to Is 6d. We sell every Tuesday. Hides : 2d to 4d, according to weight and condition. Tallow; Rough fat, 9s to 11s 6d ; rendered, 11s to Jss, Horsehair ; Is tp Is 3d. Crown Sheep Dip ; The best in the market ; price, 4s 6d per gallon. Comsacks : We have Landed a large shipment of 46in. sacks, and shall be pleased to quote on application. Binder Twine : We have a large stock, and can supply all qualitfes at lowest quotations. Country sales conducted on the most reasonable terms. We can supply rabbit and sheep netting, and give special quotations by the mile. We have oil cake in stock. FECIT AND PBODUCE JrARKBT. Butter: Prime salt, dairy-made, 9d ; medium, t&d p er lb. Cheese : Good Akaroa, 4d ; factory,' 4Jd to 4|d. Pigs : 4d for good qwlity, wanted. Beeswax: Is 3d to Is fld, according to quality. Fruit : We have pleasure in advising fruit growers that we hold regular fruit sales three days a week, and any consignments will have our best attention.
