Presentation at Croydon.

On Sunday afternoon at the schoolhouse, Croydon, the Bey. A. H. Wallace, on behalf of the children attending the Sunday school, anc! others, presented Mrs Beaton (who is leaving the district) with a handsomely bound reference Bible, with illustrations, help, and concordance ; also a tonic-sol-fa Church Praise, as a small token of their affection and esteem. The rev. gentleman, iv making the presentation, spoke of the good work Mrs Beaton had carried on in the district ; how she would be missed from her accustomed place, and concluded by hoping that she might lona be spared to carry on her noble work in the district where she was about to reside. Accompauying the above present was a short address (very neatly engrossed by a resident of tbo district) worded as follows : — ".Should all acquaintance be forgot" Mrs John Bkaton, — _ ' We wish you to 'accept this gift as a suitable token of tlie good work you bave so nobly struggled to enrry ont in our small village, especially in the Sunday school. We wish yon pvcry success in the farm at Riversdale—six good crops and six times tbat amount of good health to enjoy them.— Your affectionate friends. [Here follow tho signatures], Mrs Beaton, who was taken by surprise, in accepting the presents, spoke with much feeling on the work she had boen engaged in, and expressed the hope that it would continue to prosper. She could hardly find words to express her sincere thanks to her late pupils and friends for their handsome and unexpected presents, which she would treasure with fond and loving memories of Croydon. Mr Audrew Strachan, sen., aho spoke in csmpliraentary term 3of Mr 3 Beaton's good works in the district, and, on behalf of himself and neighbors, wished her and her family " God speed " in their new honic— Correspondent.
