The ' weather is still broken and boisterous, retarding all out-door work, ond it was a good thing for the farmers that tlie spell " of fine weather we have had for some six or seven weeki previonsly • enabled them to get well ahead with their ploughing. The Cycling Club held a meeting on the 15t!i inst., when it was decided to hold . a lantern parade and ball about tie end of Angust. They evidently mean to make things boom this coming season. The Good Templars' Lodge held their monthly open mooting o i Thursday evening, .when a good programme wrs ' gone through, consisting of an add -ess by tho chairman ; soTecftion on the auto harp by Bro. Perry ; song, Bro. Lloyd ; Kong, Sister A. McKenzie ; recitation, Bro, .J. McGavin ; selection on auto harp and 'violin, Bros. Perry and Dactars; paper oh the " Adulteration of A'cohol," Dr de Lautour"j 'reading, Bro. W. Eskdale ; song. Bro. Bnrrell ; and an original • poem by Bro. J. H. Edgar. The choir sang several hymns during t'le evening. At the closo of the meeting m appeal was made by the chairman to all friends to help on the work by joining fie Order. - A serious accident happened at the flour mill on Friday afternoon to a son of 'Mr W. Potts, who by some means or othor got caught in the machinery and broke his leg in two places, also sustaining a fracture of his arm. He was attended to by Dee de Lautour and Trotter, who put tho little sufferer under chloroform before they could set the injured-limb. There U a lot of speculation rife here as to who is to be our future representative in place of Mr T. Mackenzie. Several names are mentioned, but as yet nothing definite is known. Whoever secures the coveted honor will have to be a good man to please the electors after oar present one.
