The Hon, Mr' Ward statss that his Government ara willing to submit to arbitration the questions in dispute with the New Plymouth bondholders. Mr Ward ha? arranged for the postponement of the New Zealand conversion opera* tions for six months. The Governor of the Bank of England bears public testimony to the Hon. J. G-. Ward'o financial ability, and saya his good judgment has assjoted New Zealand to re* gain a position of first-class credit on the London money market, Sydney, June I. Tbe ' Sydney Morning Herald,' referring to Mr Ward's proposed stook conversion scheme being postponed for six mouths, says it may mean that on reconsideration it baa been found less promising than was at first anticipated, and has been conveniently postponed preparatory to being shunted. It may really bo intended to carry out the scheme at tho time mentioned, but unless market conditions are much more favorable than at present, little or nothiog will be gained by the change, while some expense must have boon borne.
