A Treasury note iatimated that, under the Lccal Bodies Finance and Powers Act, the >urn of L2B 14s 3d had been (emitted to tbe Board's account, The Premier acknowledged reoeipt of the Board's representations re the Public Works Consolidation Bill, which would receive due consideration, Tbe Coun'y Council intimated that a £ far £ subsidy for L2O had been granted the board. The Bank of New Zealand, Gore, agreed to xrraDging an overdrait acoount with the Board for L3OO. DEPUTATION. Messrs John Diok son, Robert Dodds, and James Smith waited upon the Bo«rd, &hking ! tbat body to approach tbe County Council, in order to obtain letve to cut a channel through section 6, block 11, Otama, to relieve the road and properties of adjacent settlers during floods.— bach member of the depntation addressed the meeting, The Olark said tbat some years ago ha had recommended a ftaod-channel should be cut in the same place as where the deputation wished ; but no action waa then taken, at the man through whose property the channel would have run wanted LICO for the ptivi* lege, and so no steis weie taken. Had a channel been cut then, no doubt it would have been of considerable benefit ; bat in the present time, although no difficulty as to tiompansation now existed, so many changes in the confermation of the roads, etc., had taken place, tbat tbe Board had better pause in *ny decision it might come to. The deputation urged haste, as it was a matter ot great importance to them^as their crops were at stake. The Ohaiiman and Messrs Kennedy and Peter thought it would not be wise to take any action at present as the Board bad a certa : n responsibility at stako— Eventually it was resolved that the members of subdivision and tbe inspector report on the j matter at next meeting.
