H. Aitken, Biversdale, wrote statinn that the Council had not been asked to close the road on the north east of the railway line near his place. He stated he did not intend acquiring the closed road, and tbatlhe question of road closing had been raised by the Council ltself. He asked that they should coastquibbling and let him know whether or not they intended giving passable ingress and egress to and from section 557.— 1 he County Clerk stated that Mr Aitken bad signed the petition asking that the road ■hould be closed, and that if closed someone would have to acquire it. —The engineer explained that Mr Aitken had only wished that a small bit of road opposite a gravel pit should be dosed, and that the Council had simply propo?ed to him the advisablenesß of extendjng the closure. — Ie was decided to inform Mr Aitken that tbe Council would close the road south of railway and west o£ gravel reserve and open the piece between his place and Mr Wait*. The chairman of the Dipton Ever Board drew attention to the state of the bridges on Bennett's road, and ou Hunt's road above Dipton creek.— Dipton Kiver Board to be held responsible for Bennett's bridge and approachcr ; County to flee to repairs to bridge on Hunt's road. Wo. Satton and two others drew attention lo the impassable state of the road between the sand cutting and the Punsdale stream. They stated that the County Council had agieed to take over the " thirds " accruing en section 2, block I, Lindhurst Hundred, froa the Wflimumu Boad Board and expeud the money on this road.— lt wbb decided to reply that the Counoil had received no deferred payment moneys on account of the Waimumu Boad Board. In reply lo a circular from tbe Go* vernment with regard to local bodies fnrnißhing the Tax Depariment with valuation lists, the Department to allow the use of maps, section lists, etc., it was deoided to decline the offer as the Council was already well supplied with map?, etc., and that if any special form of valuation were required to be made by the Council, the Government should piovide for the extra cost. The Chairman was authorised to have the riding maps posted up to date. The engineer was instructed to call tenders for the following works in the Hokonui riding :— Grading Mandcville road, three niilee ; works on SandHjone Eidge, Mandeville to Loncridge, J£iDg» ston's to Croydon, and Mabel district roads. The Council went into committee lo consider mstters in connection with the proposed toll-bar at Waibopai bridge. — On resuming it was stated that the result of the committee's deliberations would be announced at tbe next ordinary meeting of the Council.
