LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL Tuesday, Aug. 23. A batch of bills were read a first time, aod two local bilk were passed. The Eight Hours Bill was thrown out by 16 to 4 after a brief debate. Wednesday, Aug. 24. The Ocean Beach Domain Bill made satisfactory progress in committee. The Arms Act Repeal, Fisheries Encouragement Act, and Aliens Act Amendment Bills were 'read a second time.
