Allan, J.P., was .-. tftted to. the chair, on tbe motion of Mr J. 0. Mackenzie, seconded by Mr R. Yardley. The, chairman read the notice calling the meeting, also communications i from two medical men who had written asking particulars concerning the district . Qnd the amount of. probable guarantee. '"Till chairman called upon Mr Mackenzie, conyener of the meeting, to express "an opmion on the matter. A committee was appointed to raise a guarantee, so that some tangible proposals might be available to lay before applicants. Hopes "were expressed of being able to raise 3Ci200; in fact, thopumof LIOO was guaranteed in the room. At a meeting held .afterwards, Mr Gr. Allan was elected chairman of the Medical Guarantee Committee. On Wednesday evening, Dr. Hodgkinson addressed the electors in the Lumsden Public HalL Mr Donald Fraser presided*. After, his address a running fire ;Was kept up, and Dr. Hodgkinson occasionally had a lively time of it. His speech was much the same in substance as that already published. Mr Jas. Martin proposed, and Mr Yardley seconded a hearty vote of thanks to ttio candidate for his address. This was carried.
