The Riversdale Rifles were paraded on Tuesday at 10 o'clock a.m , to go through volley and independent firing under Major Gordon.,. The weather, being so exseediugly rough and inclement, however, the men did n>t march out to the butts till half past twelve, when 45 men under Captain Donald proceeded. to the target. The first squad, labored under the disadvantage of firing in the midst of a pelting storm of rain and sleet, and the other squads did net fare much better, so that the practice made was not good . At 8 p.m. the corps paraded at their drill hall for Government inspection and the annual inspections of arms, there being present, 1 captain, 1 lieutenant, 4 sergeants, 4 corporals, 1 bugler and 42 men, a total of 53. After inspection by Major Gordon, wh» found everything in " apple pie " order, the men were put through company movements by Captain Donald and Lieulentant Hall, through the bayonet exercise by Sergeant Oiirrie and manual and firing exercise by Sergeant Harper. The Major expressed his satisfaction with the steady manner in which the men moved, and with the way in which they went through the bayonet exercise, and expressed His opinion tbat the corps was guile able to hold its own anywhere. We m:iy add that this fiae corps will have to add ou to its Drill Hall, if there a.c many parades such as on Tuesday night.
