At last Thursday's meeting at Invercirgill of this 'Board, A lease of. section 451, Hokonui, was granted to Donald Stewart. John Murdoch applied for peraris- ! sion to capitalise section 129, Oreti. — { Granted. The Chief Surveyor reported that sections li)l to 195, Oreti. were quite unsuited for deferred-payment sale, I and recommended that they be sold by auction in small areas. The Gore Cricket Club asked that section 12, block 115, Gore, might be vested in (hem. — ltefused. A petition signed by a number of settlers which had been sent to the Ofcago School Commissioners, and referred by them to this Board, praying that the name of tho township on section 242, Hokonui, be not changed from Long ridge to Balfour, was reported upon by the Chief Surveyor. He said the request came about seveu years too late. — JResolved to inform the Commissioners of the Surveyor's opinion, In compliance with a request from the Government, tho Board assessed the value of 13 sections near tho Waimea Plains, being portions of the Hokonui Educational reserves, and fixed the date of their sale by auction. The values varied from L2 10s down to LI ss, and they will be sold on the 13th December. John Beer applied for the right to prospect for minerals orer about 80 acres at Fiery Creek, Dome, Eyre district. Mr Wade appeared for the applicant. — Granted for 12 months. The following application for village allotment was granted : — Alexander Cameron, section 2, block 1., Mossburn. F. Collins applied for deferred payment section 642, Hokonui. — Granted. There beinsc more than one applicant for each of sections 642, 643, 646, 647, 648, and 649, Hokonui, it was resolyed to put them up to auctiou on the 16th inst. R. Howarth applied for a lease of all the unsold sections in Xowther, between Donegal street and the Irthing river, consisting of about 168 acres. — Resolved to offer the lease for sale by public auction on tho 3rd December, at an upset price of Is 3d per acre.
