The Hon. W, Bolleston, Minister of Lands, and Mr McKerrow, surveyorgeneral, also attended the meeting, , ..' j Mr Eolleston, who. recently visited jthe education reserves in the .. Waikaia district,' made the following , suggestions : -That a village settlement be laid off in block VII, ' Waikaia, between section 1 arid the Waikaia Biver (about 400 aores), in small farm allotments. That a village settlement be laid! off in the Bob Boy Gully, probably seotioij 7, block 1, Wendonside, 280 acres. That J another be laid off at Wendon Creek, pear its junction with the Waikaia— about SOJO or 400 acres ; also' one between the Wailjaka etreain and sections sand 9, block IX, Wendon— 210 aores ; and that one be selected on the east branch of the Waikaka stream when the survey is made^ Also that forest reserves be made in suitable piaoes throughout these blocks, and that steps be taker^ to have a tecreation-ground reservecLin Wood's paddock, also a cemetery opposite '.the "yaikaia township.— The recommendations were adopted. ! Mr Bolleston further recommended that perpetual leasing be substituted for sealing on the deferred- payment system in dealing with tbe present surveyed biooks;—Begirding this matter thie Commissioners decided to adhere to their former decision— viz, jto sell one-half the area on the deferred-pay-ment system, and the other half for cash, in terms of the Land Act of 1877. I An application was made by the Waikaia Land and Progress Committee to have four aores ofland ou the weßt side of the Waikaia Biver set apart for a pnblie cemetery.T-It was agreed to reserve an area for this purpose, j • A deputation consisting of Messrs Morris, Lamb and Milne, representing a number of Chatton settlers, waited on the Commissioners with a view to inducing then* to Open run 193a. for settlememt. The deputation was introduced by Captain Mackenzie and H. Driver, Esq,, M.H,B'B.— lt was re solved to insert a clause in the oond i|ion for leasing, giving power to the Commissioners to withdraw any portion of the run for settlement during the currenoy ofjth lease, in terms of the seotion of the Land Act referring to the same. .•>'••{ '
