THE POTATO IS COOPED.
TO TIIU EDITOR. Sir, —You aro a. funny fellow, but my object is served, and you aro to bo thanked for diawing attention to the ' bel that the "VVairuu people cannot grow good potatoes. People who either write or talk such nonsense must either be ignorant of the art of cooking, or liavo purchased some imported ones. My boy Tuck, who brought you the saucepan, complains that you did not tell all the fun, for when he put the saucepan down in your office your chief reporter appeared on the scene, when it took five special requests from you before ho dare open it, bo being afraid it contained another imported animat. Was it not Sir Walter Scott who said “ It takes a surgical instrument to extract a joke from a Scotchman.” If my quotation is wrong, 1 have known an Englishman say it takes an American axe to put one into a Scotch editor. —I am, &c., John T. Robinson.
