John Trace, who was sentenced to death for the murder of John Stapleton at Armidale about the middle of January last, was executed this morning. A second application for a writ habeas corpus has been granted iu the cases of 43 more Chinose.

Brisbane, May 29. The Hon C. B. Moreton, Colonial Secretary in the present Government was defeated at tho general election. He has been raised to the Legislative Council.
