Per Press Association. Wellington, May IS. A private cable states that the Shaw, Saville and Ablion Steamship Company have declared a dividend of 5 per cent. The Tongariro, from London, is expected early to-morrow afternoon. The Hawea, which takes the Fr’isoo mail, will be delayed in order to take the northern portion of the Tongariro’s mail, and the southern portion will bo despatched on Sunday morning. At the City Council an animated discussion took place over the recent reduction of Gd per day on laborers’ wages, and the result was a reinstatement to the former amount.
