Per Electric Telegraph— Copyright. United Press Association. Sydney, April 16. Mrs Lakeman, wife of Mr Allen Lakeman, member for Brisbane, and the mother of the child which died of small-pox last week, and a domestic servant have do* eloped small-pox symptoms. Both have been isolated.
Tho prospectus of the Broken Hill, Marototo silver and gold mining' company has been issued, with a capital of £85,000. The object of the Company is to purchase and develope a block of country near, Hikutaia, Thames district, Auckland. News has been received here of a volcanic eruption, at Ambryn Island, one of the New Hebrides group. The whole face of the country has been destroyed by a thick deposit of volcanic dust from the mountain interruption. No casualties are reported.
