Another Scene in the N.S.W. Assembly.
(Per Waihora at tho Bluff.) (pee press association). Sydney, Dec 20. A disgraceful scene occurred in the Assembly on Thursday night last, during the debate on tho Financial Statement. M’Elhone, in denouncing the Governments past and present, was interrupted by the Attorney-General. M‘Elhone thereupon revenged himself by scurrilous abuse of the late Sir William Manning, who was known to be a family connection of the Minister’s. Ho cai'ed the lato Judge “a useless crawling old wretch, drawiug a public salary.” Inglis cried “shame, a cowardly shame,” and M'Elhone, suddenly roused to a pitch of extraordinary fury, yelled out “ You lying scoundrel.” The House was instantly in the greatest confusion, cries of “Order,” “Chair” drowning every other sound. M'Elbone was engaged in a wild struggle all the time with his friends. Despite all their efforts to induce him to control his temper he kept repeating “He is a lying scoundrel.” When he had cooled down he withdrow' the expression, and almost immediately resumed his attack on Inglis, saying “ You dare not say it outside; if you do I will disfigure you for life. You dare not do it.” Quietness was ultimately restored, and the business was proceeded with,
