Mr Ivess and His Workmen.

(Per Press Association.) Wellington, August 8. It was stated in a Napier telegram on Monday that Mr Ivess had raised the rate of compositor’s wages at that place. From tho wording of the message it was apparent there was some mistake, and on enquiry it appears it was caused by an error in transmission of the telegram. In justice to Mr Ivess, who has naturally been eaused much annoyance hv the misstatement, it- should be added that he denies having done any such thing, nor does it appear that such a chargo was brought against him at tho meeting to which tho original telegram referred.
