Tremendous Fire in London
LOSS, HALF A MILLION. reuter’s telegrams. London, Aug 7. The loss occasioned by the fire at Whiteley’s shop, Westbourne Grovt is estimated at half a million sterling. Two thousand persons are thrown out of employment by the disaster. August 8. By the conflagration at White-i ley’s three persons were killed andf many others received injuries of a more or less serious nature. Whiteley expressed a firm conviction the fire was the work of an incendiary, The premises and stock were almost uninsured.
