(Per Press Association). Nelson, Jan 19 Amelia McGee, wife of Alex. McGee, formerly a billiard-marker at Wellington was charged before Mr Oswald Curtis, R.M.,on Monday, with unlawfully, and maliciously setting fire to a’dwelling house in Tasman-street on the 12th inst., certain persons'being therein. Mr Charles Barley appeared for the accused. The house was the property of Mr William Evans a gardener. After taking a quantitv of evidence,the accused was commiteed for trial at the next sitting of the Supreme Court. Bail was allowed, the prisoner Jn ,-UOO and two sureties of .§SO each; —Eve ling Pres* Correspondent. Auckland, Jan. £l.
Jane Horne, wife of Stephen Home, laborer, attempted suicide by throwing herself into the dock but was rescued. An Auckland solicitor, connected with the Rugby Union, is said to have absconded to Sydney and 'eft bis creditors lamenting. He owed a fellow member of the Bar LSOO. —Evening Press Correspondent,
