Sydney’, Monday. The second day’s racing of the Tatter' sill’s Club Mee ing took place to-day. The weather was fine, and the attendance good. The first race on the programme was the New Year's Gift, and was won by Spoilt Chill, Faugh-a-Ballagh 2nd, Halcyon 3rd. Twenty-three horses started. Won by a length. Time, limn 15;£sec. Carrington Stakes—Kitawa 1, Keith 2, Tom Brown 3. The nee resulted in a splendid finish between Kitawa and Keith, the former winning by a length. Time, 2min 24i-sec. The betting wis 10 to I against Kitawa. Steeplechase Hatter 1, Blackall 2, Kangaroo 3. Six horses started. Won by two lengths. Time 7min Ssec. Free Haudicap—Goldhake 1, Yel'ow Jacket 2, Resolved. Twenty two started. Won by half a length- Time, 2inin lljeecs. CALEDONIAN SPORTS. Per Press Asso"iation Wellington, Jan. 2 The weather was gloriously fine for the Caledonian Sports. The attendance according to the returns was about 7000. Barker won tho Caledonian Handicap of four distances with ten points, Scott of Christchurch second with nine, Mon nook third with four points. The Bicycle Handicap, 2 miles was won by NewtoD, 300yds ; time 9min 20sees. Tjlmaru Jan 3. The South Canterbury Oa'edonian games commenced to-day The meeting was Highly successful, the weather being excellent, and 5000 persons were present All the games were vre’l contes’ed. Dunedin Jan 2. At the Caledonian Sports yesterday the prize for C irnish wrestling was won by 11. Dunn (Champion Border style.) January 3 - To-day was almost generally observed as a holiday and the weather being fine the town was almost deserted. The Caledonian Sports were largely attended. Julian made the record for vaulting with the pole clearing 10ft lOin.-J. Grant being only one inch behind. Julian also took first prigs for putting the 221 b ball 33Get 1 inch, and for the hop, step and leap 43 feet 7 inches. J. Dunn, brother of the Champion won the Middle Weight Wrestling match.
