Wellington, Dec 21, The Colonial Treasurer has just received a telegram from the AgentGeneral informing him that the actuaries engaged in investigating the profits of last quinquennial period of tho Gover ment Insurance Department find I there is a surplus of L 245.315, whereof they recommend for division L 150,000. The Agent-General adds that the actuaries find the results m ch better than they expected. The investigation has shown that nearly twenty-five per cent of the whole assets are surplus funds. Before leaving for Auckland this evening Sir J. Vogel absolutely denied any eonnection with the suggested knighthood of journalists as mentioned in the Evening Press.
