JUDICIAL CHANGES. Wellington, Sept. 2 The Evening Post says i is understood that Justice Gillies has applied for extended leave of absence on account of ill health, and if granted, it is possible that District Judge Ward will be raised to the superior Court Bondi to fill the vacancy. The question of the Wellington Magistracy is not yet settled, Mr Broad being unwilling to leave the West Coast. It is not likely now that he will accept the position. STATE FOREST REGULATIONS. Wellington, Sept. 2 Regulations under the State Forest Act, 1885,° are gazetted to-night. Clause 3 provides that all timberand other produce within any Sta’c Forest may be disposed of either by auction, a' praisment, or license to fell, upon sudi terms as the Commissioner of State Forests shall prescribe, and all moneys which shall be payable for such timber or other produce shall be paid in such a manner as the Commissioner shall direct The remaining clauses are 2 penal clauses providing for lines for infringement of regulations.
