[reuter’s cablegrams.] BULGARIAN AFFAIRS. A RUSSIAN CONSUL RECALLED. CoNSTAOTINOPLE, Sept. 1. Tne Russian Consul at Sofia, who is believed to have been implicated in the arrest and removal of Prince Alexander, has been recalled by his Government. St. Petersbugh, Sept. 1. The departure of Prince Dolgorouki to Sophia, to enquire into affairs there, has been postponed.

COCHIN CHINA
Hong Kong, Sept, 1.
News is to hand from Oorea that, fearing the Russians, some Chinese ironclads recently anchored oft the coast, and landed a party of sildiers disguised. On the latter reaching the shoro they were attacked by a riotous mob of CJoreans and compelled to return, Reports have re'ched here of a terrible massacre of Christians in Northern Cochin China and in tho Chinese province of Becliuen. A number of villages inhabited by Christians are reported to have been burned to tho ground. EARTHQUAKES IN AMERICA. SIXTY PERSONS KILLED. New York, Sept. 1, Very severe shocks of earthquake have been felt along the eastern sea-board, in Alabama and in this city. The shocks were felt strongest at Augusta and Savannah, in Georgia, and at Charleston. At these towns several houses fell, and sixty pel sons have been killed.
THE AUSTRALIAN CRIOKETERS London, Sept. 1.
The Cricket match Australian v South of England, was concluded at Gravesend to-day, and resulted in a draw. The Home team, with 6 wickets down for 90, continued their first innings, which c’osed for 170 runs. Being 129 behind their opponents, the Englishmen followed on, and when the stumps were drawn had lost one wicket for 106 runs.
