The cricket match between the Australians and an England eleven which was arranged to take place, at Stoke yesterday, cuuld not be commenced then, owing to the rain, which fell throughout the day. Play, however, began this morning, and the weatlnr being fine there was a large attendance The Australian wcmt in first, and owing to the excellent play of GiflYn, Blackham, a’d Bruce, ran up the score to 248 be fore the last wicket fell Gillen contributed 53, Blac-kharn 71, and Bruce 48, (all bowled). At the conclusion of the day’s play, the Englishmen had scored 35 with one wicket down.
