The Marlborough Hussars met for mounted drill last- night, there being a good muster. The auction sale of the Gas Works, which was announced to be held by Messrs Watson and McKeDzie to-day, has been postponed for a week, The services at the Church of the Nativity to-morrow will bo unusually attractive. Jackson’s music will be used for the Canticles at both services. The evening service will be fully choral, while that in the morning will be semi-choral. In the evening the anthem “ I will Left up Mine Eyes" will be sung. Mr Dodson is to ask the Government on Tuesday if they will, during the present session, introduce a Bill to amend the Impounding Act, 1881, in the direction of increasing the fees for driving and impounding large cattle, so a 3 to make the administration of the Act selfsupporting. The football match between the World and the Borough Schoolboys, past and present to be played on Seymour Square has been looked forward tc by lovers of the game with a great deal of interest. Play will commence at 2.30 punctually, when all players arc requested to putin an appearance.

Mr F. Adame, butcher, has been having his shoo renovated throughout, and will bear creditable comparison with similar establishments in town.
