SUICIDE AT ONAMALUTU.

At 6 o’clock last evening new 3 was brought into town by Mr A. Litchfield that a man named Samuel Ballard had shot himself through the breast at Onamalutu. It apneara that two friends of deceased left Blenheim yesterday to pay him a visit and on arriving at the tent found that he had apparently just died. From what we can learn deceased was a middle aged man and had followed the occupation of a gold-dig-ger for some time past. No particulars are yet to hand from which to form any idea as to the causes which induced the rash act. Constable Collett was despatched from town at five o’clock this morning to the Onamalutu to bring the body down to Fenwick, where an inquest will be held at 2 o’clock to-day before the District Coroner, J. J. Turnbull Esq.
