WAIKATO RUGBY UNION
Annual Meeting The annual meeting of the Waikato Rugby Union was held on Friday evening. The president, Mr. D. R. F. Campbell, of Morrinsville, presided. There was a full attendance of sub- union delegates. Profit of £lO2 on Season The balance-sheet revealed that the funds were sound, a profit of £lOl 19s being recorded. Receipts from representative matches last season were £Bl9 17s.
Mr. Campbell was re-elected president f£ the union, the election being a departure from the precedent of electing a new president each year. Several delegates praised Mr. Campbell’s services to Rugby football in Waikato.
Th* only previous president to have held i be office twice was Mr. B. Chapman, of Morrinsville, but this was not « successive years.

Giibbons. , New Management Committee Chairman Mr. Belcher, who waa elected' chairman of the management committee, is a member of the council of the New Zealand Rugby Union. Mr. W. Fraser, who has acted as ; chairman of the management commitee for over a decade, did not accept ijorainertion. It was stated that Mr. Fraser inends to devote all his spare time to coaching the younger, players. ‘' ■V-’ Mr. H. Clay, of Wellington, was elected resident representative in Wellington. He will attend the annual conference of the New Zealand Rugby Union with power to vote. 5 :., Messrs. Belcher, T.. W. Thompson ahd C. Speight were elected as an emergency sub-committee of the management committee. Messrs. B. S. Marshall and Belcher were appointed representatives of the union on the Waikato Referees’ Appointment Board. Match With Auckland The union decided to nominate Mr T. Craig, of King Country, as one of the North Island selectors to be chosen by the New Zealand Union. An application will be made for the Waikato-AucKland match at Hamilton on June 9. .. Harlequin Club ’ The Harlequin Football Clqb (N.Z.) was granted honorary affiliation with the Waikato Rugby Union.. The club comprises former Waikato and New Zealand representative players, and is modelled on the lines of the Barbarians’ Club .of Auckland. Mr. Belcher, president of the chib, said the Harlequins would not make fixtures which would clash with the Waikato Union or submnions. The Waikato Union and the , sub-unions had claims on players before the Harlequins club in' relation to active footballers.
