The Matamata borough water supply will 'be cut off on Thursday afternoon between 1 p.m. and 4.30 p.m. to enable alterations to be made.
Official summer-time ends at midnight on Saturday, and it will be necessary to put clocks back half an hour for Sunday.
Among the wreaths from public bodies at the funeral of the late Mr. G. Given, of Walton, was one from the Waharoa Women’s Institute.
The Matamata-owned-and-trained .Grand City won the last race at Whangarei on Saturday and paid a sensational dividend in the vicinity of half a century.
A disappointment to many Matamata people was the announcement on Saturday that the new Te Amelia Kiwi Amateur Athletic Club had been obliged to postpone its inaugural sports meeting. A number of district runners and cyclists were to have competed. ■»
Matamata farmers will shortly make an all-day tour of modern piggery layouts, embracing the farms of Messrs. C. Hemsley (skim milk system), C. Harrington (whey system), A. Clemov (Massey College)D. C. Clarke (night cover), S. Holmes (paddock system), H. Porritt and Rose (electric fence systems), Hodgson brothers (Russian system) and Roberts brothers (whey milk). Particulars of the tour are to be found in another column. At the Waikato Rugby Union meeting on Friday Mr. C. H. McIntyre, a Morrinsville delegate, raised, the question of tile presentation of a special badge for life members. The .suggestion met with the unanimous approval of delegates, and it was decided to obtain designs and ■ badges. The life members of the union are Messrs. C. M. G. McDavitt (formerly of Morrinsville), T. Clarkin (Hamilton), F. Quinn (Te Awamutu), T. A. Cooper (Hamilton), B. Chapman (Morrinsville) and A. G. Yardley (formerly of Matamata).
