WAHAKOA’S CLAIMS Under-Secretary’s Statement Recently Mr. P. W. Doidge, M.P., on behalf of the district Ratepayers’ and Householders' Association, made representations for the extension of the Government housing scheme to Waharoa.
Mr. Doidge has now received the following reply from the Parliamentary Under-Secretary, Mr. J. A. Lee, M.P.:—
“ Dear Mr. Doidge,—l have to acknowledge receipt of your letter of the 15th instant with reference to the extension of the Government housing scheme to Waharoa.
“ In reply I have to advise yoti that so far, owing to the large number of schemes in course of construction, and the difficulty experienced up till now in the matter of obtaining sufficient skilled building labour, it has not been found possible to undertake further schemes of housing construction in the smaller localities. “ I understand the department has received nol direct application from any person in Waharoa desirous of taking advantage of the Government housing scheme. I am therefore enclosing herewith a supply of application forms which I suggest you should forward to the Waharoa District Ratepayers’ and Householders' Association with a view to their distributing same to likely applicants. “ Should a sufficient number of applications be received you can rest assured that the claim^’ of Waharoa. will be considered ds soon as possible.”
