WOMEN’S INSTITUTES

MEETING AT HINUERA The annual meeting of the Hinuera Women’s Institute was attended by about 40 members. Mrs. T. de Renzy presided. Mrs. A. Rowe (secretary) presented the annual report, which covered a successful year’s operations. Posies made by Mesdames W. Hollis, C. Brown and E. Robinson were presented to Mrs. de Renzy (president), Mrs. Rowe (secretary) and Mrs. Wilson (treasurer) as tokens of appreciation for their work during the year. An interesting reading was given by Mrs. E. Robinson. A musical competition arranged by Mrs. Toogood was won by Mrs. Langlands, and a soap competition was won by Mrs. C. Brown. A demonstration of the '“Lambeth Walk ” by some of the members caused much amusement. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows:President, Mrs. E. L. Robinson; secretary, Mrs. A. Rowe; vice-presidents, Mrs. C. Wilson, Mrs. H. Wright; treasurer, Mrs. C. Wilson; committee. Mesdames J. Menzies, J. Dawson, W. Brown, T. Jordan, H. Main, Misses R. Macey, I. Germann and E. Hancock. Hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames D. Cannell, H. Conder, G. Wright and E. Hancock.
