, BOWLING TOURNAMENT * The Walton Bowling Club Held an all-day tournament on Saturday. Fourteen full rinks competed. Mr. A. Adams, president of the club, welcomed the visitors. Ladies supplied refreshments during the day. The tournament was won by A. Oates’ Matamata team, which won outright with 4 h wins after drawing the last game with Adams' Walton team. The winning team comprised F. Lansdown, E. Polglaise, A. Crosby and A. Oates. i The Walton club was congratulated on the good state of its green. A STREAM STRUCK The Walton Bowling Club and Tennis Club have been troubled for two seasons' through lack of water owing to their bore sanding up. Recently a working bee put down another bore. Water was struck at 45 feet to the extent that 400 gallons per hour \for five days were' pumped continuously with no diminution of flow. AN OLD-TIME CUSTOM A Walton bowler was so pleased with “ the recent arrival ” and was so popular with big friends that the customary process of u wetting the head” was not only protracted but covered almost everyone in the district as well as a few out of it. Everybody is doing well.
