WAHAROA WIN For First Time Waikato East Championship For the first time in its history the Waharoa Tennis Club succeeded in winning a Waikato East championship when on Saturday Tirau were defeated, in the final of the B grade 'Competition. The match was played at Waharoa. Results: — Men’s Singles: C. Munro lost to Laurie, 4 —9; Inman lost to Strong, 6—9; F. Munro lost to Morris, o—9; Davidson beat Gray, 9—o. Waharoa: 8 matches (86 games). Tirau: 5 matches (73 games). WAIKATO BANNER Hamilton Win Final Waikato East lost to Hamilton on - Saturday, at Hamilton, in the final . game for the Waikato Banner. The game was a very close One,, which the visitors only lost by two matches and four games, after having the chance of match points.; in several games. The fact that the final was played on grass, to which the Waikato East players are unaccustomed, more than made up the difference between the teams. Since the competition was inaugurated some 12
years ago, the Waikato East team
