MARGARET BEVERLEY CUP Tennis Champion's Gift — On Wednesday afternoon Miss Margaret Beverley, of Peria, New Zealand’s No. 1 lady' tennis player, attended at her old school* the Matamata District High School, for the purpose of presenting a handsome silver challenge cup for the champion girl tennis player. • Miss Beverley was received on the lawn in front of the school by the principal, Mr. H. Fawcett, M.A., all the pupils and staff being present. Mr. Fawcett ■ introduced Miss Beverley as ah “ old girl ” of whom .they were all exceedingly proud. Her exploits on New Zealand and overseas tennis courts had made her name known throughout New Zealand, and she had brought honour to the school as well as to herself. • Mr. Fawcett then called upon Miss Beverley to present her trophy to the school champion, Miss Joan Holwell. v '' . Miss Beverley congratulated Joan on her success and wished her the best of good wishes for the future. Miss Beverley then demonstrated to the massed school the method of making various strokes and the correct footwork necessary. Following this Miss Beverley played several pairs of boys and girls on the school courts, much to the delight of all present. s
