Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Lambourne, who have been on holiday at Hawera, New Plymouth .and Wanganui, have returned home to Peria.

A visitor to Matamata last week was Mr. W. L. Morgan, of the Manly sub-branch of the New South Wales branch of the Returned Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Imperial League of Australia. Mr. Morgan was the guest of his sister, Mrs. Peter Cameron.

Mr. B. V. Kernot, brother of Mr. J. Kernot, of Piarere, Matamata, is very seriously ill in the Waikato Hospital. Mr. B. V. Kernot was a sergeant in the Main Body of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force in the Great War. He has been farming at Koromatua.

Farmers in the district will regret to learn of the death of Mr. Stan. Webb, formerly one of the F.A.C. auctioneers, who died in the Waikato Hospital on Thursday. Mr. Webb was taken ill only on Sunday. He was probably the best authority in Waikato on pedigree cattle. In addition he had the integrity Which inspired both seller and buyer.

As a result of an accident on the Matamata-Morrinsville main road near Waharoa on Sunday morning Peter Davis, a Maori, aged 18 years, employed as a farmhand by Mr. F. Sheridan, of Walton, received head injuries and abrasions. Davis was riding a racing bicycle in front of a travelling motor-car about 1 h miles bn the Morrinsville side of Waharoa when his bicycle skidded and he fell in front of the car. After being treated by Dr. D. R. Abemethy, of Matamata, Davis was taken to the Waikato Hospital. His condition is not regarded as serious.
