An “ aside ” by a member of the Matamata County Council at its meeting on Friday, when the Minister of Mines, the Hon. P. C. Webb’s, name was mentioned, that the Minister was part-owner of the horse that won the Grand National Hurdle Race last year, drew a humorous comment from another member. “He won’t be so keen on the ‘ National ” at the end of this year,” was the remark of | the second councillor. <
