“A LARK’S UNION”
r . ' (To the Editor.) Sir,—ln your issue of the 26th inst. you print the somewhat sneering reference made by the Mayor of Mt. Eden, Mr.’ M6Nab, to the above question. I wonder whether you will be good enough to print the truth which appeared in the New Zealand Herald on the same day that your paper went to- press. If not, I would like to point out to your readers that no man is compelled to pay £1 into the New Zealand Workers’ Union until he has been on the job at least four weeks, and that becomes his annual subscription. As a matter of fact no entrance fee is charged. I trust that you will give this matter the publicity that you gave to the other story. —I am, etc., NEMESIS. [The only material difference in the two reports we can see is that ito, the Record the Mayor said the cheque for £1 was “to join the union.” The Herald stated: “ To join Lark’s union.”]
