PRICES AT MATAMATA The Farmers’ Auctioneering Co. held their usual fortnightly sale at Matamata on Wednesday when a full yarding of cattle came forward. Cow and heifer beef was yarded m larger numbers, the entry comprising a number of well-finished cows and heifers for which the demand was particularly keen, values being on a par with Frankton quotations. Boner cows sold readily, there being no appreciable variation in values. There was an average yarding of fat sheep. Competition was firm and values showed a marked improvement since the previous report. There was a full yarding of store and weaner pigs, also a few pens of porkers. The quality on the whole was very good and large stores sold under keen competition at advanced rates. There was an average yarding of dairy cattle, comprising mostly nice quality heifers close to profit, which sold under good competition. The few cows offered realised good prices for the quality offered, £8 15s being paid for a calved cow. Cattle. — Prime fat -heifers, to £9 ss. Medium prime fat heifers, £6 tc £6 15s. Lighter prime fat heifers, £4 5s to £5 g s> Fat cows, £7 2s. 6d to £7 17s 6d. Lighter fat cows, £5 3s to £6 15s. Forward and -killable cows, £2 2g to £3 .7s. Heavy boners, £2 2s to £2 12s. Lighter boners, 25s to £2. Two-year empty Jersey heifers, £3 Is to £3 10s. Sheep.— Medium fat wethers, 295. Medium fat ewes, 24's 9d to 255. Prime fat woolly hoggets, 355. Light fat hoggets, 22s to 22s fid. Forward conditioned hoggets, 17s 6d to 18s. Pigs.— Light baconers, £2 18s to £3. Medium porkers, £2 to £2 3s. Light porkers, 33s to 365. Large stores, 35s to 38s. Medium stores, 28s to 335. .'Slips, 18s to 3255. Weaners, 11s 6d to 15s. Dairy Cattle.— Best quality Jersey heifers, £9 tc £lO ss. Other Jersey heifers, close to profit, £3 15s to £B. Later calvers, £5 5s to £6 10s. Best dairy cows, close to profit, £5 5s to £7. Later calvers, £4 to £5. MATAMATA HORSE SALE Draughts up to £46 and £45 10s Weather conditions on Monday affected the attendance at the Matamata horse sale held by Dalgety and Company, but the demand was good, and nearly a total clearance was effected at the following rates: — Account Mr. Lasenby, aged bay gelding, £45 10s, to Mrs. Qrmerod. Account Mr. Downey, light gelding, £2l 10s. Account Mr. Duxfield, aged mare, £l4. Account Mr. Finnerty, light gelding, £2l, to Mr. J. J. Shine; also, aged light mare, £l4 10s. Mr. Venables on account Mr. W. J. Scott, light gelding, £l6. Account Mr. F. Barugh, light draught filly, unbroken, rising 3 years, £26. Account Mr. W.
