LEMONS FOR BEAUTY
LOTION AND BEAUTY AID Lemons have always been considered valuable beauty aids as well as being useful for many other household requirements (states the Melbourne “Age”). The following hints will therefore prove handy to those who “take care of themselves.” For instance, lemon juice will soften water in which you wash your face, and bleach and soften the skin at the same time. The juice of half a lemon, squeezed into a tumbler of new milk, is an excellent astringent, and an antifreckle lotion. Lemon juice will also be found useful for removing tartar from the teeth. Simply roll a piece of cotton wool round a tooth pick, dip it in the lemon juice, and use this for removing the tartar. It will also remove warts and soften the hands. If you suffer with sore feet, then, again, lemons will be found handy. Cut a slice of lemon and bind it round a corn to soften and remove it, or when a bunion is the trouble simply rub with half a lemon. A cooling and refreshing treatment in summer is to go over both feet with a cut lemon. If lemons are warmed before being squeezed more than the usual quantity of juice may be extracted. .Pour boiling Avater over hard lemons to soften them. A cut lemon will keep fresh for a long time if the cut side is placed on a piece of waxed paper to exclude the air.
