Wedding Bells.

BRIGGS—YORKSTON.

A quiet wedding of interest to many friends in the Waikato and in Scotland was solemnised on Saturday at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. John Simpson, of Studholme street, Morrinsville. The bride wan Mi°s Marion Wright Yorkston,. eldest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Yorkston, of Gilmerton, Edinburgh, Scotland, and the bridegroom was Mr. John Chalmers Briggs, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Briggs, of Newlandrigg, Gorebridge, Edinburgh, Scotland. Both have resided in New Zealand for seven or eight years. The Rev. J. H. Starnes was the officiating minister.

The bride, who was given away by Mr. John Simpson, wore an anklelength gown of maize souple satin featuring long sleeves and a basque frill at the waistline. With this was worn hat and shoes to tone. The bride’s bouquet was cf daffodils, freesias and jonquils. In attendance as matron of honour was Mrs. G. H. Dunsford, of Hinuera (nee Lena Simpson, of Gorebridge, Scotland). Her ankle-length gown was of moonbeam silk taffeta with coatee, hat and shoes to tone, and she carried a bouquet of daffodils, jonquils and violets. Mr. G. H. Dunsford, of Hinuera, was best man.

Following the ceremony Mrs. John Simpson was hostess and was attired in a frock of navy blue wool repp and hat to tone. Those present were: Mrs. Dunsford (Waitoa), Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Simpson, junr. (Tatuanui), Miss M. Allan, little Marjorie Simpson, Messrs. N. Dunsford and G. W. Simpson. A number of congratulatory . messages from distant friends were read. The bride travelled in- a fawn tweed tailored costume with hat and shoes to match. The future home of Mr. and Mrs. Briggs will be at Rotowaro.

McLACHLAN—ALLAN.

Knox Presbyterian Church, Morrinsville, which had been decorated by friends of the bride with heather and spring flowers, was the sotting I for the marriage on Saturday of j Miss Cameilia Muir Thompson Allan, third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Allan, of Greenock, Scotland, and Mr. Gordon McLachlan, of Christchurch, fifth son of Mr. and Mrs. W. McLachlan, of Haig street, Morrinsville. The Rev. J. 11. Starnes officiated and Mrs. J. lb Wilson played the wedding music. The bride, who was given away by her brother-in-law, Mr. L. R. Dench, wore an ankle-length frock of ivory satin and embroidered tulle veil with ornamental head-dress of orange blossom, which had been sent out from Scotland and had been worn at the wedding of her sister three years ago. She carried a sheaf of white camelias.

The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Margaret Allan, who wore an ankle-length frock of blue satin and mustard-coloured hat, and carried a posy of golden jonquils and daphne; and by two little flower girls, Heather McLachlan and Graham Dench, who were frocked in pink georgette. The best man was Mr. Royden McLachlan, brother of the bridegroom. A reception was held at the Manse, . where the decorations were of pink camelias and daphne. Mrs. L. R. Dench, of Waitoa, sister of the bride, was hostess, and the following guests were present: Mr. and Mi’s. W. McLachlan (parents of the bridegroom), Rev. J. H. and Mrs. Starnes, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. McLachlan (Rotokauri), Mr. and Mrs. J. McLachlan (Kiwitahi), Mr. D. McLachlan -(Walton), Mr. and Mrs. R. McLachlan (Kurunui), Mr. R. McLachlan (Frankton), Mr. and Mrs. Robertson (Hamilton), Mrs. J. R. Wilson, Mr. H. J. Barford, Misses D. Bright, M. Allan, M. Wilson, N., J. and H. McLachlan and G. Dench.
