Gift Evening.

FUNCTION AT WAHAROA. There was a large attendance in the Waharoa Y.M.C.A. Hall on Tuesday when a gift evening was tendered to Miss J. Whyte on the eve of her marriage. Miss N. Pennell supplied the music and Miss M. McGahan the extras. Solos were sung by Mrs. Stevenson and Miss Pedersen, of Matamata. In a happy speech Mr. W. E. Ayers called upon Miss Whyte to open the numerous parcels which she did amidst applause. Miss Whyte’s brother, Mr. J. Whyte, responded on her behalf.
