AN APPRECIATION.
(To the Editor.) : Sir, —Oin behalf of the native community pfothe Matamata district, we desire to express our appreciation of the services rendered to us generally by the late Constable Connor. He was at all times most ready willing with help and advice to the native community in every way. In particular during the search for the two missing lads recently he was untiring and a tower of strength, and it was probably the hardships under which he laboured then that laid the foundation for his illness which proved fatal. Too much cannot be said in this particular respect. We will treasure his memory and his good acts, and desire to extend to his widow our deepest sympathy in her sad loss. Unfortunately we were not aware of the funeral arrangements or we would have been represented. Heoi haere e koro haere-haere, haere kite po Heoi ano na olioa aroha. We are, etc., WATI (WALTER) AOAKE. RANGINUI TANIRA. JACK MARSH.
