ROCKY DOWNS CLUB.

Championship Games.

The senior semi-finals were decided last Saturday under unpleasant playing conditions. L. H. Little and J. Corbett are the finalists and will meet over 36 holes at an early date. These two players met in the semifinals last year, when Corbett won at the 19th, so a very even and interesting match should result. In the semi-finals, Little v. Fitzgerald, the former, by winning the second, fourth and fifth, obtained an early 3 up lead. Fitzgerald halved the short sixth in three’s, won the seventh and was 2 down. At the eighth Little got a . splendid drive on to the green, 265 yards, but Fitzgerald played a good second and the hole was halved, both players getting birdie threes. Little won the ninth and was again 3 up, his total round being a 38. The tenth was halved, Fitzgerald won the eleventh and twelfth, reducing the lead to one, and halved the thirteenth. At the “ summit ” Little holed his approach for a birdie three, and by winning the next was dormie. The match finished at the sixteenth, Little winning 4 and 3.

Although Corbett and Wallace also finished 4 and 3, the match was not such a close one, as Corbett obtained a six-up lead over the first nine holes. Wallace got three back in the next four, but the leeway was too great, and -the match finished at the sixteenth. The intermediate and junior semifinals will be played at an early date.

GLENFARNE CUP. This match is creating a lot of interest, and there have heen some surprise wins, the seniors finding it difficult to concede many stroke's to improving juniors. J. Corbett, who after leading one up at the sixteenth, threw away his chance of success by duffing his drive into the gully at the seventeenth, where he did not have to concede a stroke. Keeley also found Carruthers a difficult problem, and only managed to even the match with a birdie four at the eighteenth, after being dormie one down. The rules compel all matchess finishing all square to be replayed, so these two players will meet again on Saturday. W. Heyworth, in receipt of 12 strokes, defeated P. T. Keane 3 and 2. The former won the first six holes, lost the eighth, won the ninth and turned six up. Keane won the next four, lost the fourteenth, won the fifteenth, and was only two down, but the match finished at the next, which Heyworth won. F.
