“WOMAN” BECOMES MAN.

STRANGE CASE IN ENGLAND. The Wiltshire town of Tisbury was staggered recently by the announcement that a person who had lived among its people for 29 years as a woman was to marry—as the bridegroom ! He was known as Eva Mary Burt, and has now been pronounced by doctors to be a man. The birth certificate has been amended, and in the changed name of Evan Montague Burt he is to marry Miss Sarah Matilda Edwards, an assistant nurse. Mr Burt was her colleague as a female nurse in the same institution, Monmouth House, Tisbury. When I saw the bridegroom at the confectioner’s shop where he is employed as a domestic servant he was still dressed in woman’s clothes (says a London Sunday Express correspondent). He spoke in a masculine voice, and wore his hair short apd brushed back. He refused to discuss the affair. Mr. E. E, Baker, the Wesleyan minister wlio is to marry the couple, discussing Mr. Burt with me, said: “ She was the quietest, most wellbehaved, and most popular ‘girl’ in the neighbourhood. She never missed a service at church when she could get away from her employment, and was very shy in the presence of young men.
