MATAMATA. The' Farmers’ Co-operative , Auctioneering Co. held their usual stock > sale at Matamata on Wednesday . A good yarding 6f fat and store cattle came forward, cow ( heef meeting with keen competition. A heavy yarding of store pigs also met with keen competition. Prices throughout remained firm at late rates. Beef. — Prime fat cows, £9 17s 6d to £ll 15s. Fat cows, £B' 5s to £9. Medium fat cows, £7 to £7 15s. Light fat cows, £5 12s 6d to £6 9s. Forward conditioned cows, £4 10s to 5s Store cows, £8 10s to £4 3s. Boner cows, £2 5s to £3. - Bulls, /potters, up to £3 15s. 2-Year Empty heifers, £5. Dairy Cattle.-- , . Best Jersey and Jersey-cross heifers, £ll to £l2 15s. Best Friesian heifers, £lO 10s to £ll 10s. Jersey-cross cows, £lO 5s to £l2. Backward cows, £7 10s to £S os. Sheep.— Fat wethers, £1 6s. Killable hoggets, 13s 9d. Mixed sex hoggets, 10s 3d. Breeding ewes, 4-tooth to f.m,, £1 0s 9d. Pigs.— Good stores, 36s to £2. Slips, 26s to 345. Weaners, 16s 6d to 235. WAIHOU. At the Waihou sale on Friday there was a good yarding qf beef and dairy cattle. There was good competition for good-quality fat cows, and these showed an advance in prices. Dairy cattle were sought after and late quotations were fully maintained. A good yarding of store pigs and a light yarding of fat pigs came forward. Competition was keen for stores, the whole yarding changing hands at slightly-increased rates. Sheep.— Fat ewes 21s. CattleHeavy fat cows £9 15s to £lO 17s 6d. Medium fat cows £8 to £9 ss. Light fat cows £6 Is to £7 15s. Forward-conditioned cows £4 15s to £5 12s 6d. Fresh store cows £3 15s to £4 10s. Store cows £1 to £3 4s. Pigs.— Heavy porkers £2 9s to £2 14s. light porkers £2 2s to £2 ss. Good stores £1 17s to £2 ss. Slips £1 8s to £1 15s 6d. Weaners 15s to 235. Tamworth and Tamworth-cross sows in pig £3 to £3 15s. Dairy Cattle. — 1 • Best Jersey heifers close to profit £ll to £l2 10s. Jersey and Jersey-cross cows £ll 5s to £l3. Shorthorn cow 3 and heifers £9 10s to £l2 ss.
HAMILTON. At the Frankton sale on Tuesday there was a good yarding of cattle and sheep. Ox beef sold at late quotations, and there was a good demand for good-quality cow and heifer beef, which showed an increase in prices. A truck of extra-prime fat cows averaged £l2 per head. Fat and store sheep sold at last week’s quotations, A • short yarding of fat sheep and a heavy yarding of stores came forward. Values for fats showed a firming tendency. Cattle.— Fat bullocks £l2 15s to £l2 19s. Light £ll 12s 6d to £ll 18s. Unfinished steers £9 3s to £lO 11s. Extra-prime fat cows £ll' 5s to £l3 3s. 1 Heavy £9 9s to £ll Is. Medium £7 17s to £8 12s 6d. Light, £6 5s to £7 6s. Cows and calves, £7 9s. Polled Angus and Hereford 18months steers, £6 9s. Sheep.— Light fat wethers, 25s to 26s Id. ~~ Fat ewes, 18s to 19s 9d. Fat hoggets, 17s 6d to 18s. Forward hoggets, 14s 4d. Three and five-year-old breeding ewes, 19s. Pigs.— Light to medium baeoners, £3 7s to £3 11s. Heavy porkers, £2 18s to £3 2s. Light, £2 10s to £2 14s. Stores, 35s to £2.
CLEARING SALE. Mr. T. S. Ferguson. There was a large attendance of buyers at the clearing sale conducted by the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co. on behalf of Mr. T. S. Ferguson, Taihoa, on Monday, and prices realised were very satisfactory throughout. The herd, which was a grade Jersey one, produced 15,573?x1b of butter-fat last season, ansl a certificate was given with each cow sold. In consequence prices were good, the herd averaging £l4 14s, with a top price of £24. The aggregate for the herd was £7BO 10s. v The principal buyers were:— T. T.
