BLOOD AND IRON.
SPEECH BY MUSSOLINI. « I here affirm that our programme will be carried out ton by ton and that all the units of the new programme will be launched, because the will of Fascism is an iron will and because the Italian people sooner than remain imprisoned in the sea that once belonged to Rome, would be capable of even exceptional sacrifices. Italy is now so strong, so welded together, so well organised in all her forces, that no one can attack her without mortal risk. Words are fine things, but muskets, mach-ine-guns, ships, aeroplanes, and cannon are finer, for right unaccompanied by might is a vain word, and it was your Niccolo Machiavelli who warned us that it was the unarmed pjrophets who perished. To-morrow the sight of our armed forces will show the world the firm, warlike countenance of Fascist Italy.”—Signor Mussolini.
