ON THE SCREEN.
MATAMATA REGENT. To-night that really dynamic picture, “ Dynamite,” will be screened for the last time. Conrad Nagel, Kay Johnson and Charles Buckeridge are leaders of an excellent cast, which is only suitable for such an outstanding production. On Friday evening Marion Davies plays the title role,in “Marianne,” a sparkling picture which has charmed millions of people, and which will be screened at the Regent, Matamata. It is an all-talking success depicting then story of a French peasant girl and a company of soldiers who fought for her love at the end of: the war. It is Marion Davies’ first talkie and this little fair-haired queen of screen comediennes gives a brilliant performance. One of the biggest treats of the talkie screen will he shown on Saturday afternoon and evening, and also on Monday evening. It is “ Broadway,” which is reputed to have everything that makes for a good entertainment. Glenn Tryon, Evelyn Brent and Mema Kennedy play leading roles iff this great picture.
