FLYING WITHOUT PILOTS.

NEW BRITISH PLANES. • ■ . . A complete squadron of VickersNapier night bombing aeroplanes has now been equipped with a “ Robot ” electrical pilot designed by the British Air Ministry experts. This squadron (reports the Daily

Mail) has been engaged on a series of long-distance night flights, and the “Robot” pilots have on several occasions taken complete charge of the machines, flying them continuously for as much as 400 miles and bringing them exactly to a predetermined destination without the controls being touched by the human pilots. Routes from the south of England to Scotland have been followed with the automatic pilots in complete charge. The “ Robot ” device consists of electrical apparatus which can be controlled from the ground by wireless. Stability is obtained by means of gyroscopes.
