Hinuera.
Plunket Dance. On Thursday evening the Hinuera Hall \vas crowded to overflowing when the Plunket Committee held a dance in honour of the Gold Queen — Miss Phyllis Downie. A committee, consisting of Mesdames N. Griffiths (secretary), F. Downie, R. Swan, J. Calder and Miss M. Germann, was responsible for the entertainment and deserves great credit for the spirit of gaiety and happiness which reigned during the evening. Mr. Stan. Holland’s orchestra dispensed bright music and tjie three capable M.’sC., Messrs. J. Hayes, D. Mclsaac and P. Cotter, carried out their duties so well and kept things moving so merrily that there was not a dull moment during the evening. A box of sweets was won by Mr. Somers and a pair of silk stockings by Mr. J. Keane, of Tirau. Two step dances were held, the first of which was won by Miss K. Tisch and Mr. Les. Jones, and the second spot by Miss Cobham and Mr. F. Watson. Personal. Mr. C. C. Hinton, of Devonport, is the guest of Mr. N. Griffiths. Mrs. F. Watson has left for a holiday in Auckland.
