GARDEN FETE.
REST ROOM FUND. The beautiful gardens of Mr. and Mrs. J. Carruthers’ home in .Turanga-o-moana were the scene of a fete last Saturday in aid of the rest room funds. Mesdames J. Carruthers and D. Montague, assisted by ,the ladies of Turanga-o~moana, were responsible for the excellent afternoon, the proceeds from which augmented the funds by about £4O. Many competitions and games provided ample entertainment. Other attractions were stalls laden with produce, home cookery and sweets. Competition winners were : Mrs. Gunn, junior, dinner; Mrs. Bennett (Taihoa), cake weightguessing (tMrs. Black’s cake); Mrs. S. Harding, cake weight-guessing (Mrs. A. Gibson’s cake); Mrs. Wilding and Mr. T Bluck, tennis,; Mrs. J. Montague and Mrs. W. Ryan, golf.
