Stock Sales.

MATAMATA. At Dalgety and Co.’s fortnightly stock sale at Matamata on Wednesday there was a small yarding of cattle, while a good yarding of sheep came forward. Fat cattle met with fair demand, other cattle dull, A nice lot of Jersey heifers were penned, but failed to reach vendors’ reserves. Prices were: — Beef.— Fat cows, £6 10s, £7 5s to £B. Lighter sorts, £5 ss, £5 12s 6d to £O. s Boner and store cows, £3, £3 10s .to £4 ss. Jersey heifers, in calf, £6, £6 10s to £7. Jersey heifer calves, £2 10s, £3 to £3 12s 6d. Sheep.— 545 6-year ewes, 20s. 385 4, 6 and 4-year-old ewes, 22s 6d. Southdown rams, l£gns to 3gns. I Lambs, store, 15s 3d. i rigs.-- * - Light baconers, £3 to £3 ss* Good store pigs, 33s to 355, Smaller sorts, 9s to 18s. HAMILTON. At the Frankton sale on Tuesday there was a good yarding of all classes of cattle and a heavy yarding of sheep. Prime fat bullocks were firm at late rates, and the same can be said of prime-quality young cows. Second-quality and store cows sold at late rates. Fat sheep were penned in good numbers and sold at last week’s quotations, while the large yarding of store lambs showed a decided drop in price. Breeding ewes "were also slightly easier. There was a full yarding of fat pigs, which met with keen competition. Baconers averaged 75d per pound, while porkers averaged 73d to 7id per pound. Quotations were:— Cattle. — ! Sheep.— Fat. ewes 16s to 19s. Prime fat lambs 25s to 25s 9d. Others 17s to 20s. Forward wethers 22s to 22s 9d. Ewe lambs 13s lid. Wether lambs 12s 9d to 16s 4d. M.S. cull lambs 8s 3d to 10s 3d.
